CRENC stands behind the Cameroon authorities to fight against COVID-19 and ensure the safety of health care providers

‘We Are At War,’ WHO Head Says!

On the 25th of March 2020, the Cameroon Minister of Public Health  calls all Health staff to join efforts against COVID-19

Here are ten things health workers can do to protect themselves.

1. Put on your mask first, you are the first line of the fight against this war, protect yourself against the virus!

2. Practice what we preach: social distance (including at home), frequent hand washing and use of a disinfectant.

3. Hydrate more often, especially if you work long hours

4. Wear work clothes and shoes that stay in the hospital, on your return, change your shoes and wash your hands before entering the house

4. Sleep at least 6 hours/day to maintain your immunity at a high level

5. Take a daily bath after returning to protect your loved ones

6. Eat a balanced diet: vegetables, fruits and proteins to strengthen your immunity. If possible, a daily supplement of vitamins B-complex, Vit-C and Vit-D is important

7. Wash your hands between each patient’s room during your rounds

8. Disinfect your stethoscope between patients, if possible, do not use a cell phone or computer at work and disinfect these tools daily.

9. Protect your colleagues and your extended family by limiting your travel and participation to social events.

10. If you are declared Covid-19 positive, don’t panic! Put yourself in quarantine, watch your symptoms and alert your colleagues who will take care of you.
