Leopold Aminde, MD, PhD, FRSPH

Leopold is a Physician-Scientist and commenced his career in 2014 after completing medical training at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Buea, where, via his MD research he participated as co-country investigator in the Pan-African Pulmonary Hypertension Cohort (PAPUCO) study. After serving as Physician in district and regional hospitals in Cameroon, he was awarded the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (then IPRS) in 2016 to pursue doctoral studies at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland. Upon completing his PhD in 2019, he was selected for a competitive Griffith University Postdoctoral Fellowship, where he is currently leading a program of research into the World Health Organization ‘Best-Buys’ for Non-communicable disease prevention.

He is a member of numerous professional societies including the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia, the International Society of Hypertension, the International Society of Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology & Prevention and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. He is also a member of the leading world expert group – Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Collaborators, and was recently elected to Fellowship of the Royal Society of Public Health, England. He has published over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals with over 2700 citations, h-index of 15, and ResearchGate Score of 34.17. In addition to serving as a reviewer for multiple leading international journals (see Publons), he is currently Associate Editor of the journal – BMC Cardiovascular Disorders (section Hypertension & Cardiovascular Risk). His research interests include cardiovascular epidemiology, non-communicable disease prevention, health economic modelling and evidence synthesis.
